Savage, Paul Revere Society give $50,000 to California Highway Patrol widows, orphans In June 2009, the CAHP received a surprisingly generous contribution to the CAHP Widows & Orphans' Trust Fund. The donation came in by mail. There was no long letter included ... just a check," said Carrie Lane, a trustee for the CAHP Widows & Orphans' Trust Fund. The check was in the amount of $50,000. A temporary employee who was opening the incoming mail didn't realize the significance of the contribution and simply deposited the check as part of her routine duties. The donation didn't come to the attention of the trustees until a few weeks later when the donor contacted the CAHP to confirm the donation was received. In September 2009, CAHP CEO John Hamm and CAHP Widows & Orphans' Fund Trustee Rob Nelson presented a plaque to Michael Savage of the Paul Revere Society to thank him for the generous contribution. Mr. Savage has a family connection to the California Highway Patrol as his son-in-law works as a uniformed employee for the CHP.
